Job summary

The City of Philadelphia seeks a Community Engagement Organizer to build neighborhood coalitions, coordinate meetings, canvass, phone bank, and perform general administrative duties. Working with the Place-Based Initiatives Unit, they will develop individualized neighborhood plans through the BRIDGES organizing model and drive SMART engagement goals.

Qualifications

• Be available to work a flexible schedule.
• Passion for advocacy and social change.
• Work collaboratively and meet deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google docs and social media engagement; VAN preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to engage diverse audiences.
• Prior experience organizing and managing volunteers is strongly preferred.
• Must have valid driver's license and access to a car.

Responsibilities

• Build neighborhood coalitions and coordinate meetings and outreach activities.
• Oversee creation and execution of neighborhood plans using the BRIDGES model.
• Meet goals related to collective engagement and outreach; collaborate with peers to plan strategy.
• Host community meetings, forums, and town halls aligned with neighborhood plans.
• Provide resources and training to empower community members to lead initiatives.
