Job summary

City of Philadelphia is seeking a Director of Community Engagement and Outreach to lead CEO’s resident-facing engagement efforts. You will supervise Community Managers, oversee door-to-door canvassing, phone/text banking, and events, and align outreach with Place-Based Initiatives.

The role requires strategic planning, staff development, and strong cross-team collaboration. The position emphasizes equity, impact, and coordination with internal partners to ensure high-impact community engagement

Qualifications

• At least 6 years of progressive management experience, with 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of outreach and community engagement practices.
• Proven ability to coach and develop managers.
• Excellent cross-team collaboration and communications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Community Engagement and Outreach team, including Managers and Coordinators.
• Develop and implement comprehensive outreach plans (door-to-door, phone/text, events).
• Ensure a cohesive Phase 1 resident engagement experience and connect residents to resources.
• Coordinate with Data and Evaluation to align goals and inform programming.
• Provide strategic direction and workflow management across outreach operations.
• Collaborate with internal partners to incorporate resident feedback into planning.
• Support strategic vision of Place-Based Initiatives (PBI) and CEO.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
