Job summary

Gulf Coast Blood Center in Houston seeks a Manager for National Donor Testing Services (NDTS) Laboratory to provide operational, technical, and people leadership for a high‑complexity donor testing lab. You will ensure timely, accurate testing and compliance while supporting patient safety and the national blood supply.

The role emphasizes budgeting, staffing, training, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment with a culture of safety and accountability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field (ASCP preferred).
• ASCP MT/MLS certification or equivalent required.
• Minimum five years in a high-complexity lab; two years in leadership/supervisory roles.
• Experience managing quality systems, regulatory inspections, and performance metrics.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational, technical, and people leadership for the NDTS Laboratory.
• Ensure testing accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance across platforms.
• Oversee budget, staffing, and resources to maintain uninterrupted operations.
• Lead continuous improvement, safety, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Prepare for audits, maintain SOPs, and ensure staff competency.
