Job summary

Gulf Coast Blood in Houston seeks a Manager of National Donor Testing Services (NDTS) to lead a high‑complexity donor testing laboratory. You will direct operations, quality, and regulatory programs to ensure safe, timely testing of donor specimens and reporting across platforms.

The role requires a strategic, hands‑on leader with strong budgeting, staffing, and mentorship skills, committed to patient safety and continuous improvement in a nationally recognized blood center.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
• Current MT/MLS (ASCP) certification or equivalent.
• 5+ years in a high-complexity laboratory with donor testing.
• 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of FDA, AABB, CLIA, CAP, OSHA requirements.
• Experience managing quality systems and regulatory inspections.
• Experience in donor testing, blood banking, immunohematology or transfusion medicine preferred.
• Budgeting and workforce planning experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee NDTS laboratory operations ensuring timely testing and reporting.
• Develop workforce plans and staffing models.
• Manage departmental expenses and budgets.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and inspection readiness.
• Lead quality assurance activities and CAPA.
• Coach and supervise NDTS staff and ensure performance management.
