Job summary

UL Solutions in Appleton, WI is seeking an NDT Technician to support the 2nd shift. You will witness performance testing and conduct safety and non-safety inspections on automotive firefighting equipment, welds, ladders and platforms, ensuring UL compliance.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English is required.
• Completed NDT Classroom Training in MT, VT and UT with Level II NDT experience and certification.
• Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and technical ability.
• Strong verbal communications skills and client interfacing abilities.
• Ability to work outside year-round and inside production facilities for weld fabrication and assembly.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, in confined or elevated spaces.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet client expectations.
• Dependable personal transportation to visit client locations in Northeast Wisconsin; based in Appleton with periodic inspections at other locations.
• 2nd shift focus with initial training on 1st shift.
• 8% pay differential for 2nd shift hours.

Responsibilities

• Witness performance testing of water pumps and line voltage systems on automotive fire apparatus, weld inspection and witnessing operation testing of aerial ladders and platforms.
• Perform safety and non-safety certification inspections and analyze examination results against requirements.
• Use technical judgment to determine whether noncompliance variations affect continued application.
• May audit customer quality management or assurance programs.
• Interpret and analyze results against UL requirements and verify calibration of manufacturers measuring equipment.
• Document examination, variations and test results on appropriate UL forms.
• Communicate with manufacturers, customers, authorities having jurisdiction to conduct inspections.
• Discuss procedures, test methods, results, and variations to resolve problems and develop new requirements.
• Follow UL Code of Conduct and security practices.
• Perform other duties as directed.
