Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in Norfolk, VA is seeking an NDT Inspector J1–J4 to support QA inspections and testing within the ship repair setting. The role involves conducting UT, VT, MT, and PT inspections, reviewing drawings and NAVSEA standards, and preparing NDT reports under the QA program.

The candidate will pursue Level II NDT certification within required timeframes and participate in continuous improvement using basic Lean Six Sigma methods.

Qualifications

• Technical/Associate degree in QA/marine-related field.
• 4–6 years QA inspection experience.
• NDT Level II certification in VT/PT/MT/UT per NAVSEA.
• Ability to obtain Level II in UT shear wave within 6 months.
• Knowledge of ship construction, welding and inspection instruments.

Responsibilities

• Witness and document inspections and tests per plan.
• Ensure QA equipment calibration and certification.
• Review drawings, specs, NAVSEA standards and technical manuals.
• Prepare and submit NDT reports and CFRs.
• Provide Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) for DFS and corrective actions.
• Lead QA surveillance and non-conforming product control.
