Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems LLC in the United States is seeking an experienced NDT Manager – Responsible Level III to lead the NDT operations for SPARC manufacturing and ARC fleet projects. You will manage the NDT technician team, serve as the Certifying Authority, and shape the organization’s NDT capability for current and future fusion facilities.

The role requires a strong track record in NDT leadership, Level III certification, and deep knowledge of UT/PAUT, RT, and related codes.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
• Level III certification (ASNT, NAS 410, or ISO 9712) in UT/PAUT and RT.
• Working knowledge of PT, MT, VT for overseeing, auditing, and certifying technicians.
• 12+ years of NDT experience on high-integrity components.
• Hands-on experience with industrial radiography using CR/DR.
• Strong knowledge of ASME Section V, VIII.2, and ASTM NDT standards.
• At least 3 years in a managerial capacity, with leadership of an NDT team.
• Strong ultrasonic skills (PAUT, encoded scanning; TFM/FMC).
• Ability to serve as Responsible Level III and Certifying Authority.
• GD&T and Metrology knowledge.
• Minitab, Excel (VBA), Visio experience as described.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain organizational NDT capabilities and scalable solutions.
• Partner with EHS Radiation Safety for safe, compliant radiography operations.
• Act as the Responsible Level III and Certifying Authority for qualification programs.
• Oversee NDT execution across manufacturing, construction, and vendor sites.
• Audit examinations to ensure alignment with instructions and standards.
• Collaborate with NDT engineering and training teams on procedures.
• Establish training and qualification frameworks for technicians.
• Review work instructions to ensure current procedures are used.
• Use NDT results to drive RCCA and continuous process improvements.
