Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Director of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to lead enterprise NDT across manufacturing and launch sites. You will drive automation, partner with Design Engineering, and elevate NDT to an upstream design influence to ensure inspectability and efficiency.

You will manage senior managers, NDT engineers, and technicians, while aligning NDT capabilities with production rate goals and safety standards across programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, materials science, physics, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience in non-destructive testing, inspection engineering, or related discipline within manufacturing/production.
• 5+ years of people management experience across multi-site or multi-disciplinary teams.
• Deep working knowledge of NAS410 personnel qualification and certification requirements.
• Experience with NADCAP accreditation processes and audit readiness.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a forward-looking enterprise NDT strategy emphasizing automation and optimization over headcount growth.
• Lead continuous improvement leveraging Lean, data analytics, and process automation to reduce cycle times and improve first-pass yield.
• Identify and deploy automated NDT inspection systems to replace manual inspection in production environments.
• Embed NDT early in the design process by participating in design reviews and producibility assessments.
• Establish standardized NDT processes across all manufacturing and launch sites.
