Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Oil & Gas Title Opinion Attorney to draft, review, and deliver complex title opinions for North Dakota properties. The candidate will bring deep knowledge of ND mineral law, real property concepts, and regulatory frameworks to resolve ownership issues.

The role emphasizes independent analysis, timely drafting, and coordinating with acquisitions and leasing teams. Remote work is available with flexible billable hours and strong bonus opportunities.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license and good standing with the North Dakota Bar, or eligibility to obtain admission as required for the position.
• Substantial experience practicing oil and gas law with emphasis on drafting and reviewing title opinions.
• Hands‑on experience preparing title opinions covering lands in North Dakota.
• Strong knowledge of North Dakota real property law, mineral law, oil & gas law, and the recording system.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver original drilling title opinions and related opinions for North Dakota lands.
• Examine chains of title, abstracts, records, probate, tax records, deeds, mortgages, and related instruments affecting mineral and leasehold ownership.
• Apply North Dakota statutes, case law, and oil & gas regulations to resolve title issues.
• Identify gaps, conflicting conveyances, and defects; propose curative measures and drafting requirements.
• Determine ownership of fee minerals, royalties, and leasehold interests; assess reservations and unitization issues.
• Review leases, pooling agreements, unit orders, and surface use agreements; meet deadlines and maintain drafting standards.
• Assist with acquisitions, divestitures, leasing, due diligence, and post‑closing title matters.
