Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Oil & Gas Title Opinion Attorney to draft, review, and deliver complex title opinions across North Dakota. You will assess chains of title, verify mineral ownership, and ensure compliance with North Dakota real property and oil & gas regulations.

Extensive ND title experience, strong research and drafting skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential for success in this remote, flexible role. North Dakota licensure or eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active North Dakota Bar license or eligibility.
• Extensive experience drafting and reviewing North Dakota oil & gas title opinions.
• Strong knowledge of ND real property, mineral, and oil & gas law, and recording systems.
• Ability to independently analyze complex title chains and prepare opinions.
• Exceptional legal research, drafting, and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, analyze, and deliver original drilling title opinions and related opinions for North Dakota lands.
• Independently examine title chains, abstracts, county records, probate, tax records, and leases.
• Interpret ND statutes and oil & gas regulations to resolve ownership issues.
• Identify gaps and defects; recommend curative measures and drafting requirements.
• Determine ownership of fee minerals, royalties, and leasehold interests.
• Evaluate mineral reservations, unitization, and related instruments under ND law.
• Review leases, pooling agreements, unit orders, and surface use agreements.
• Prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain drafting standards across projects.
• Assist with acquisitions, divestitures, leasing, due diligence, and post-closing matters.
