Primary Tasks

The candidate must be able to perform construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems. They should be well-versed in conduit installation, motor control circuitry, switchgear maintenance, and cable termination. The ability to read and interpret electrical prints and schematic drawings is essential. Candidates should also be capable of estimating costs and ordering materials.

Requirements

• Must have a valid electrical NCCER certification.
• Installation of electrical raceway systems, including rigid aluminum, galvanized steel, PVC, and PVC-coated conduit, as well as aluminum, galvanized steel, and fiberglass cable trays.
• Installation and termination of single and multiple conductor cables.
• Installation of electrical devices such as light fixtures, transformers, disconnects, motor starters, distribution panels, and start/stop stations.
• Testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical circuits.
• Safe use of electrical testing equipment like volt-ohm meters, amp meters, and megohmmeters.
• Safe operation of hand and power tools such as band saws, drills, conduit threaders, hole punches, and wire tuggers.
• Measuring and bending conduit up to 6 inches using manual, mechanical, hydraulic, or electric benders.
• Installing electrical conductors, including measuring, cutting, pulling, tagging, shaping, and securing cables.
• Proper packing and pouring of seals.
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and OSHA electrical safety practices.
• Ability to read electrical drawings.
• Knowledge of PPE use, limitations, and maintenance.
• Understanding hazards and safe procedures for working at heights and with personnel lift equipment.
• Familiarity with lockout/tagout, confined spaces, emergency action plans, work permits, incident reporting, and Hazcom procedures.
