Job summary

Fresno City College is seeking a Construction Instructor for its Part‑Time Faculty Pool. The ideal candidate will train to become an NCCER certified instructor and deliver both classroom and hands‑on lab instruction using the standard textbook.

Responsibilities include data entry into the NCCER system, coordinating with other construction programs on campus, and ensuring permits and safety requirements are met across diverse instructional settings, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and two years of directly related professional experience.
• OR associate degree and six years of directly related professional experience.
• OR a valid California Community College credential.
• OR equivalent education and/or experience (requires equivalency).
• Demonstrated responsiveness to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Responsibilities

• Complete NCCER instructor training.
• Enter data into the NCCER data bank for each student.
• Deliver classroom instruction using the assigned textbook.
• Provide hands‑on lab instruction related to each textbook chapter.
• Manage materials and equipment orderly.
• Coordinate with onsite construction classes and instructors as required.
• Prepare all documents necessary to obtain permits prior to the beginning of a project.
• Supervise students during hands‑on projects.
• Coordinate the scheduling of subcontractors.
• Work with division staff in electrical, plumbing, architecture, HVAC, and related areas.
• Complete projects with permits signed off and ready for sale by the end of the Spring semester or other established completion dates.
• Perform assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evenings, weekends, online, off‑campus, and large group instruction classes as needed.
• Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.

Education
