Job summary

Altron Inc. in Manassas, VA seeks an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to lead full-lifecycle systems engineering for Navy submarine, carrier, and shore-based platforms. You will own technical work end-to-end and mentor junior engineers in an agile team, collaborating with software, hardware, product leads, and testers.

This full-time role requires US citizenship and a DoD Secret clearance, with a base salary of $125,000–$134,000 and potential sign-on bonus, plus comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and active DoD Secret clearance at time of hire.
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, plus 5–10 years of professional systems engineering experience.
• Demonstrated experience across the systems development life cycle on integrated hardware/software systems.
• Strong proficiency with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS, Jama, or similar, including building and maintaining traceability.
• Experience with system modeling using SysML and tools such as Cameo/MagicDraw or similar.
• Experience developing ICDs, system specifications, and architecture documentation.
• Experience developing and executing verification and validation plans, procedures, and reports.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, including briefing technical material to customers and program leadership.

Responsibilities

• Leading systems engineering activities across the development life cycle, including requirements analysis, functional and performance analysis, architecture evaluation, trade studies, integration, and verification and validation.
• Eliciting stakeholder needs, resolving requirements conflicts, and communicating technical solutions to internal teams and Navy customers.
• Establishing and maintaining bidirectional traceability between stakeholder needs, system requirements, design, and verification and validation results.
• Developing and managing system interfaces and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) across hardware, software, and external systems.
• Planning, executing, and reporting verification and validation activities, including authoring test plans, procedures, and reports.
• Identifying technical risks, developing mitigation plans, and tracking them through resolution.
• Providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior systems engineers, and reviewing their engineering products for quality and completeness.
