Job summary

Actalent is seeking an FPGA Engineer to design, verify, and implement FPGA-based solutions for Navy torpedo testing systems. You will develop HDL code (Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL) in AMD/Xilinx environments and craft thorough verification plans and testbenches.

You will collaborate with firmware and systems teams, support hardware integration, and document designs and verification results. The role is hybrid with onsite lab work in Middletown, RI and requires eligibility for a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Practical experience developing FPGA designs using Verilog, SystemVerilog, and VHDL.
• Hands-on experience with AMD/Xilinx FPGA devices and the Vivado design tool suite.
• Experience creating and executing FPGA verification plans and developing testbenches.
• Experience supporting FPGA integration and hardware testing activities in a lab environment.
• Strong technical documentation skills, including writing design descriptions and verification reports.
• Ability to work onsite in Middletown, RI as required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, modify, integrate, and verify FPGA implementations for Navy torpedo testing systems.
• Develop HDL code using Verilog, SystemVerilog, and VHDL in AMD/Xilinx environments.
• Create FPGA verification plans and testbenches to validate functionality and performance.
• Perform verification activities, analyze results, and refine designs.
• Support FPGA integration as designs move to hardware implementation.
• Troubleshoot FPGA and hardware issues during lab testing and integration.
• Use lab equipment to validate designs and maintain documentation.
• Collaborate with firmware, systems, and hardware engineers throughout development.
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback to improve reliability.
• Support system integration toward full hardware implementation and testing.
• Work onsite as needed during integration phases.
