Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Diesel Engine Inspector to support our MARMC customer in Norfolk, VA. The role involves technical assistance, inspections, troubleshooting, corrective actions, and on-the-job training for Naval diesel engines.

You will observe equipment performance, perform cold/hot checks, interpret wiring diagrams, and provide written reports. Requires Navy DEI certification and an active secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Eight years of naval diesel engine operation, repair, maintenance and assessment experience.
• Current Navy Fleet DEI certification and NEC 4314 preferred.
• Recent hands-on work with diesel engines and shipboard equipment.
• Knowledge of engine performance, vibration analysis, and failure analysis.
• Ability to interpret engine work specs and OEM procedures.
• Active secret government clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs and on-the-job training on naval diesel engines.
• Observe cold and hot checks, document condition and out-of-spec readings.
• Witness full-range engine performance with ship's force.
• Use measuring equipment to collect data for evaluation.
• Prepare written visit debriefs and reports.
• Attend conferences and meetings as required.
• Interpret wiring diagrams and control schematics.
