Job summary

Accurate Marine Environmental LLC (AME) in Portsmouth, VA is seeking an experienced Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of trailers, pumps, generators, and support equipment used in gas-free operations and emergency response for Navy and commercial vessels.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in heavy-duty vehicle maintenance, a solid track record with diesel engines, and the ability to read manuals and schematics.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 5 years of mechanic experience with heavy-duty vehicles or industrial equipment.
• Experience servicing DOT-regulated vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, braking systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Valid REAL ID driver's license and ability to pass driving record checks.
• Ability to obtain and maintain site-access credentials (DBIDS, TWIC).

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on tractors, tanker trailers, vacuum trucks, pickups, and light-duty vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair diesel, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and braking systems.
• Maintain service records and ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA and Virginia requirements.
• Assist operations with equipment staging, installation, troubleshooting, and field support.
• Respond to urgent maintenance needs to minimize downtime.
• Assist with parts inventory and vendor coordination.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and participate in safety training.
