Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems Sector in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Navigation Engineer to develop and analyze navigation algorithms, implement them in 6-DOF simulations, and support flight missions. The role requires a strong background in state estimation, MATLAB/Simulink, and C/C++ programming.

The candidate will perform design trade studies, validate performance, and assist in flight testing, with on-site relocation to Huntsville and eligibility for a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics and 2-4 years of work or Master’s degree in engineering or physics and research in areas such as state estimation algorithms, navigation techniques with knowledge of basic aerodynamic principles.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Strong math skills in linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry and coordinate transformation; proficient in MATLAB, Simulink, and C/C++.

Responsibilities

• Development and analysis of navigation algorithms, implementation in 6-DOF simulations and operational flight software.
• Ability to conduct trade studies for design decisions and develop techniques to assess, validate and verify performance.
• Support flight tests with pre-flight predictions and post-flight analyses.
