Position: Navigation Center Supervisor

Reports To: Senior Housing Program Manager

Classification: Full-Time Exempt

Salary Range: $70,304 + per year

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes

Position Summary

The Navigation Center Supervisor provides oversight of 5CHC’s Navigation office, currently located at 100 S 4th St., in Grover Beach. The position oversees daily operations and supervises Case Managers providing direct client assistance. This position will collaborate with government entities, faith-based organizations, nonprofit service providers, law enforcement and local businesses to achieve 5Cities Homeless Coalition’s goal of developing a cohesive, collaborative and coordinated system of care.

Essential Functions:
  • Oversees services in 4 key programs:
    • Coordinated Entry & Resource Referral
    • Homelessness Prevention
    • Rapid Re-Housing
    • Homeless Youth Services
  • Supervises staff in several programs, including scheduling, assigning and monitoring work, reviewing timecards and approving time off requests.
  • Conducts training in proper data entry, operational procedures and functions, including safety.
  • Recommends & schedules ongoing staff training, helping to develop professional growth opportunities.
  • Ensures staff meet their job expectations through regular check-ins and coaching.
  • Resolves operational problems, implements new procedures, creates, revises, and edits Policies and Procedures to have written standards to reference for daily activities, as needed.
  • Assist in the review and revision of Program Manuals.
  • Represents 5CHC at relevant meetings in SLO County, as deemed appropriate by management.
  • Works collaboratively with other Supervisors and Program Managers to ensure consistent and streamlined workflow and service delivery.
  • Assists case managers in creating case plans for clients with short, medium, and long-term goals and the steps to achieve those goals, as needed.
  • Approves direct client assistance for different services while adhering to grant and contract guidelines.
  • Assists with Case Management for complex cases and may hold a small case load depending on organizational capacity.
  • Works compassionately with those who have difficulty engaging with service providers.
  • Effectively resolves conflicts and de-escalates potentially violent situations.
  • Resolves client grievances, as appropriate.
  • Responds appropriately to emergencies.
  • Regular, routine attendance.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of an Associates’s Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in homeless services or supportive housing services.
  • 1 year or more of supervision experience.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously in a high-pressure and time-sensitive environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel (data management, formulas, reporting) and Outlook (professional communication and calendar management).
  • Technical Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and master specialized client tracking systems, database software, and proprietary electronic health/client record platforms.
  • Highly motivated self-starter, with proven ability to develop creative solutions.
  • Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
  • Well-developed decision-making skills and attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Professional demeanor and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to excel both individually and in a diverse, collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential client, employee, volunteer, and donor information and situations.
  • Able to remain calm in demanding and unpredictable situations.
  • Ability to meet face-to-face with individuals of diverse backgrounds and disabilities, including physical, mental, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, etc.; able to develop rapport, provide information, and refer with sensitivity to cultural issues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual Spanish.
  • Previous experience with social services and/or homeless programs.
Other Requirements (may be met at time of hiring with 5CHC)
  • Successful completion of background screening.
  • Reliable transportation, valid California driver’s license, and ability to qualify for organization’s driver insurance coverage.
  • Current tuberculosis test.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
