Job summary

TDI Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support preliminary design activities for the Navy's future surface combatant ships.

Based at the Naval Shipyard in Philadelphia, the role targets an early-career engineer with 3–5 years of experience focused on shipboard mechanical systems, modeling, and naval ship design. You will collaborate with naval architects, engineers, and government stakeholders, with travel to government, shipyard, and vendor facilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant engineering experience; early-career encouraged.
• Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and machine design.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and technical reports.
• Proficient with MS Office; ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Perform analyses and calculations supporting shipboard mechanical and machinery systems.
• Assist in development and evaluation of preliminary designs and engineering alternatives.
• Analyze mechanical and fluid systems, identifying requirements, interfaces, and performance characteristics.
• Support documentation of equipment and system-level technical products.
• Review drawings, specifications, and vendor documentation for accuracy.
• Assist in evaluating existing shipboard systems and system dynamics.
• Apply engineering methods to investigate issues and develop practical recommendations.
• Support reliability engineering activities as directed.
