Job summary

TDI Technologies in Philadelphia seeks a Mechanical Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to support preliminary design activities for Navy surface combatant ship systems. You will develop analyses, review documentation, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure effective integration of hull, machinery, and mechanical systems.

The role involves modeling, simulation, and systems engineering with occasional travel to government facilities and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Marine, Naval Architecture or related field.
• 3-5 years of relevant engineering experience; strong candidates with less will be considered.
• Fundamental mechanical engineering principles including fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, and machine design.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and vendor docs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication of engineering findings.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to travel periodically to government, shipyard, and vendor facilities.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering analyses and design of shipboard mechanical and machinery systems.
• Assist development and evaluation of preliminary designs and system concepts.
• Review drawings, specifications, reports, and vendor documentation for accuracy.
• Develop system models and perform fluid-system analyses.
• Prepare engineering memos, reports, and technical briefings.
• Support testing, demonstrations, and site visits.
• Coordinate interfaces and technical dependencies across disciplines.
