Job summary

Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Norfolk, VA is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design electrical cabinets, control systems, and electronic assemblies for naval and industrial applications. You will develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and documentation, and support prototype development, testing, and transition to production.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, 3+ years of experience, strong technical writing, and the ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3+ years of electrical engineering experience.
• Experience with electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical and electronic assemblies for military and industrial applications.
• Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and supporting engineering documentation.
• Support prototype development, integration, verification, and production of electronic assemblies.
• Develop functional and acceptance test procedures for electrical and electronic systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical and electronic assemblies during development, production, installation, and field support.
• Develop engineering documentation supporting electrical equipment installation, maintenance, and refurbishment.
• Create technical procedures and work instructions for electrical cabinet disassembly and reassembly.
• Produce inspection, testing, and verification procedures for electrical systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, field service engineers, manufacturing personnel, and subject matter experts to develop engineering documentation and manufacturing processes.
• Review engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, printed circuit board (PCB) documentation, bills of materials, and cable schedules.
• Support design reviews, first article inspections, and technical investigations.
• Ensure engineering documentation complies with customer, quality, and configuration management requirements.
• Support shipboard installation, production, and field engineering activities as required.
