Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory (FMP) seeks an experienced nuclear engineer or physicist to join the Reactor Physics team and contribute to method development and software tools used in reactor design, criticality safety, and shielding for the NNPP. You will collaborate with NNPP specialists to implement and validate advanced methods that enhance analytical capabilities.

Required qualifications include degrees in engineering/science with 4+ years of relevant experience or a higher degree with

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a related field with relevant experience as described.
  • Experience developing radiation transport and reactor analysis methods.
  • Familiarity with radiation transport software like OpenMC, MCNP, Serpent, SCALE, MPACT, or OpenSN.

Responsibilities

  • Understand reactor physics community needs and develop novel methods or implementations.
  • Interface with designers, analysts and related specialists to verify and validate new methods or software.
  • Ensure software/methods meet high quality standards for reactor design applications.
  • Deploy and maintain production reactor physics software for NNPP.

Skills
