Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks an entry-level engineer to join the Fleet Reactor Engineering department to lead evaluations of a wide range of nuclear reactor operations and transients. This role develops thermal-hydraulic models, analyzes reactor safety, and creates scripts to post-process results using MATLAB or Python.

The successful candidate will work with a team of professionals to document analyses, communicate results to coworkers and managers, and contribute to the mission of safe naval

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field; or
  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead evaluations of a wide range of nuclear reactor operations and transients.
  • Develop thermal-hydraulic models and perform analyses.
  • Research and develop probabilistic safety models for reactor plants.
  • Script models and post-process results (MATLAB or Python).
  • Collaborate with a team to document analyses and communicate results to stakeholders.
