Job summary

The Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF) San Diego Detachment seeks a Nuclear Engineer for the Nuclear Test Engineering Division. You will support reactor plant test program preparations, determine plant status each shift, and brief shipboard and yard personnel on planned operations and tests.

Qualifications

• At least one year of specialized engineering experience in nuclear testing or naval reactor plant maintenance.
• Experience analyzing and modifying procedures to improve safety and reliability.
• Requires Selective Placement Factor and Shift Test Engineer qualification.

Responsibilities

• Serve as San Diego Detachment representative for a Nuclear Chief Test Engineer.
• Ensure reactor plant status is determined at start of shift and brief personnel.
• Maintain safe operation by following approved procedures and detecting anomalies.
• Prepare for maintenance and testing with complete prior preparations.
• Resolve complex problems and ensure readiness for off-station work.
• Participate in radiological emergency response and training as needed.
