Job summary

Amentum seeks a skilled Gas Turbine Systems Tech Mechanical to provide technical assistance, inspections, troubleshooting and corrective actions on Navy propulsion systems aboard ships or in shipyards. The role requires hands-on operation, documentation, and occasional travel, with MS Office proficiency for reporting.

Responsibilities include overseeing repairs, witnessing performance, and training ship's force during evolutions, while ensuring QA through the QASP and maintaining required

Qualifications

• Experience as Navy Gas Turbine Systems Tech Mechanical or equivalent civilian experience.
• Experience using MARMC’s ESR database and DFS technical reviews.
• 10 years’ experience in operation, repair, maintenance, and assessment of Navy marine gear and related components.
• Experience in GTG reduction gear alignments and machinery vibration analysis.
• 5 years specialized hands-on experience in related naval mechanical systems.
• Experience developing and reviewing Engineering Approved Technical Procedures (EATP).
• Must obtain Category II Vibration Analyst certification within 6 months.
• Recent hands-on experience with the listed equipment (within 18 months).
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and tech manuals; proficient with MS Office for reports.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance, assessments, inspections, troubleshooting, corrective actions and grooming support for Code 263 equipment.
• Observe and document equipment conditions and readings; note out-of-spec values.
• Oversee repairs during shipboard or shipyard operations for compliance with standards.
• Witness shipboard operations to validate performance with ship's force.
• Use measurement/test equipment to collect data for evaluation.
• Prepare written debriefs/reports for government SMEs with photos and history files.
• Provide on-the-job training to ship's force during evolutions.
• Fabricate, assemble, install, store and ship performance materials; procure incidental items.
• Manage contracted personnel to ensure deliverables meet QA surveillance plan.
