Job summary

Amentum is seeking a qualified Machinist Mate to deliver full-time, on-site support for MARMC in Norfolk, VA. You will perform inspections, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on critical Code 263 steam propulsion and auxiliary equipment for US Navy and FMS ships.

Experience as a Navy Machinist Mate or equivalent civilian experience is required, along with expertise in gear/bearing systems and vibration analysis.

Qualifications

• Navy Machinist Mate experience or equivalent civilian experience.
• Experience with MARMC ESR database and DFS reviews.
• 10 years' experience in operation, repair, and assessment of US Navy marine main reduction gear and related equipment.
• Hands-on experience with vibration analysis and gear/ bearing systems.
• BS in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program acceptable with 3+ years mechanical repair experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance, inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance on Code 263 equipment.
• Observe and document condition readings and adjust as needed.
• Oversee shipboard repairs for technical completion and standards.
• Witness operation of systems with ship's force.
• Prepare written debriefs and reports for government SMEs.
• Provide on-the-job training to ship's force.
