Job summary

The U.S. Fleet Forces Command is seeking a qualified Accountant to join the NAVAL INFORMATION FORCES. The role focuses on applying standard accounting principles, managing financial reporting, and supporting financial policy implementation within a DoD/FM framework.

Qualified candidates will have GS-11/12 level experience, strong analytic and communication skills, and the ability to work with complex financial systems. Some travel and security clearance processes may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience and solid understanding of standard accounting principles (USSGL, GAAP) and FM regulations.
• Ability to conduct routine data reconciliations and identify basic transaction errors.
• Experience in written and oral communication to draft audit responses and explain FM policies to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assist as an accountant for COMNAVIFOR applying accounting principles and FM systems.
• Perform in-depth analysis of budgetary and proprietary account balances and reconciliations.
• Conduct general ledger to subsidiary account reconciliations and identify discrepancies.
• Develop, recommend, and implement financial accounting policies and assess impact of DoD/DoN policies.
• Disseminate financial management policies to all levels of COMNAVIFOR and provide system support.
