Job summary

Precise Systems, Inc. seeks a Modeling and Simulation Engineer Associate to deliver FEM and FEA services to our customers at NSWC Carderock. This in-person role focuses on creating and refining finite element ship models, performing detailed analyses, and ensuring QA compliance across naval platforms.

The position requires a Bachelor’s in engineering, 2 years FE experience with FEMAP/HyperMesh, and ability to work with NAVISWORKS models and 3D product data. U.S.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience with finite element analysis including advanced skills with finite element analysis software such as FEMAP.
• Experience creating and modifying shell (2D) and beam (1D) models in commercial FE software, especially Femap and/or HyperMesh.
• Experience with ship structure in the form of drawings or 3D product models (NAVISWORKS).

Responsibilities

• Prepare full ship models of Navy vessels for analysis to support Rough Water Trials.
• Use Femap and/or HyperMesh to correct, refine, or un-refine 1D and 2D mesh.
• Create hybrid models for UNDEX simulations using multiple element types.
• Modify ship models to add detailed foundations for preliminary design analysis.
• Un-refine and refine full ship models to meet intermediate mesh requirements for future analysis.
• Develop and update finite element models related to structural integrity and performance.
