Job summary

Precise Systems seeks an Modeling and Simulation Engineer Associate to deliver FEM/FEA services for naval platforms at NSWC Carderock. In-person support is required. Responsibilities include building full ship models, refining meshes, and creating UNDEX-ready designs using HyperMesh and Femap.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering related to structural analysis from an ABET accredited college or university.
• Two (2) years of experience with finite element analysis including advanced skills with finite element analysis software such as FEMAP.
• Experience creating and modifying shell (2D) and beam (1D) models in commercial FE software, especially Femap and/or HyperMesh.
• Experience with NAVISWORKS drawings or 3D product models to verify or correct FE models.
• CAD experience (SolidWorks).

Responsibilities

• Prepare full ship models of Navy vessels for analysis to support Rough Water Trials.
• Refine mesh in 1D/2D areas using Femap/HyperMesh according to design models and drawings.
• Create hybrid BBGN(X) models for UNDEX simulations using 1D/2D/0D elements.
• Add details like foundations to ship models for preliminary design analysis.
• Refine DDG-51 and LSD-41 class models to meet intermediate mesh requirements.
• Develop, modify, and update FE models for structural integrity and performance of ships/subs/components.
• Ensure FEM development adheres to given guidelines and QA requirements.
• Pass QA measures including peer/Government/commercial reviews where applicable.
