ManTech seeks a motivated, career customer-oriented Naval Engineering Technician to join our team in Portsmouth, VA. This is an onsite position.
NNSY is responsible for maintaining and improving Class-wide and Individual-Ship Maintenance for the U.S. Naval Forces. The mission includes ensuring material readiness throughout the projected service life of vessels, developing life-cycle strategies for system upgrades, and implementing Class Maintenance Plans into each ship's schedule.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Perform complex engineering tasks involving analysis, design, or testing of ship mechanical systems
Plan, conduct, and potentially supervise research, development, or system installation per engineering design and customer specifications
Interpret Ship Change Documents (SCDs), Ship System Feedback Reports (SRFRs), and reference materials
Develop and mark up documents for ship system changes including: Ship System Drawings (SRDs), Ship Information Books (SIBs), Non-Nuclear Reactor Support (NNRS) Books, and Technical Manuals
Use AutoCAD to update graphics in technical documentation
Generate and deliver final outputs in PDF (.pdf) or image (.tiff) formats
Produce and distribute finalized SRD documentation including both printed and digital formats
Minimum Qualifications:
8+ years of hands-on experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of ship mechanical systems
Experience with piping systems (e.g., firemain, chilled water, HVAC), Pumps, refrigeration systems
Experience with elevators (aircraft and weapons)
Experience with compressed gas systems (LP and HP air)
Experience with hydraulic systems
High School Diploma
Preferred Qualifications:
Expert-level experience with Navy maintenance programs and databases
Familiar with engineering and technical documentation processes
Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Security Clearance Requirements:
US Citizenship required and a current Secret security clearance or higher
Physical Requirements:
Ability to pass and maintain a modified maritime physical exam
Physically able to:
Balance, bend, crouch, stretch, kneel, and lift up to 35 lbs
Regularly climb stairs (up to 10 flights), gangways, and galleys
Work in confined spaces and at heights without fear
