BMT Group in Canada is seeking a Senior Naval Architect – Team Lead to guide a portion of the Naval Architecture team across Halifax, Ottawa or Victoria. This is a permanent, full-time role with a competitive salary.

You will mentor engineers, manage workload, support recruitment, ensure design quality and regulatory compliance, and brief senior leaders. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in naval architecture, PE registration in the relevant province, and the ability to obtain security clearance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of naval architecture experience.
• Registration with a Professional Engineering governance body or ability to obtain it.
• Eligible for Canadian security clearance.
• Experience leading teams in marine/naval/defense sectors.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience participating in recruitment processes.
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently.
• Ability to present to senior leaders and executives.

Responsabilités

• Lead a portion of the Naval Architecture team across Halifax/Ottawa/Victoria.
• Manage workloads and allocations; coordinate with PMs and ERP updates.
• Conduct performance reviews and develop Personal Development Plans.
• Establish regular one-on-one meetings and mentor team members.
• Assist with hiring processes and onboarding of new staff.
• Support department strategies and initiatives; align with Capability Manager.
