BMT is seeking a Senior Naval Architect – Submarine Structures to lead structural assessments and provide expert advice for submarine programs, including overseas deployments. The role collaborates with shipyards, owners, class societies and OEMs across sites.

Ideal candidates hold a Marine Engineering/Naval Architecture degree with 12+ years in submarine structures, and are prepared for international travel (3+ months per year) in a permanent, full-time role.

Qualifications

• Degree or Technologist Diploma in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture.
• Minimum 12 years of experience working in the domain of submarine structures.
• Experience on new build or re-fit of submarines with pressure hull design philosophy and primary/secondary structures.
• Experience in development, use and review of technical studies and drawings.
• Understanding of submarine and surface vessel specifications.
• Able to travel internationally for deployments and work collaboratively with stakeholders.
• Eligible for Canadian security clearance.

Responsabilités

• Leading and conducting submarine structural calculations for existing platforms and/or new builds
• Providing expert opinion on design and fitness for service of submarine structures including: Submarine pressure hull design philosophy
• Working with shipyards, dockyards, owners, class and OEM
• Conducting ship surveys for design and engineering changes, mid-life upgrades and vessel condition documentation
• Acting as Technical Lead on specified projects
• Acting as Technical Assurer on specified projects
