Interested individuals are encouraged to propose new classes based on their expertise and interests. Applicants should have relevant experience and educational background and can expect to earn $25 per hour plus the benefit of taking one free class per term.

Job description

Since 1870, Cambridge Center for Adult Education has been dedicated to providing the widest range of high-quality, low-cost learning opportunities for the diverse adults of greater Boston. At a time when digital and virtual experiences have become omnipresent, Cambridge Center for Adult Education (CCAE) remains deeply committed to place-based, person-to-person, experiential learning. CCAE is a nonprofit organization with an annual operating budget of $2.5 million and a staff of 15 FTEs. We run nearly 2,000 classes over 4 terms, taught by over 200 professionals who are experts in their chosen fields. Job Summary

The Cambridge Center for Adult Education, located in Harvard Square, is currently seeking part-time instructors to teach a variety of science & nature classes for adults, beginning in our summer 2026 term.

We are looking to add several new and exciting classes to our curriculum as well as find instructors to teach existing classes. We are open to collaborating with qualified and exceptional individuals to design new classes pertaining to their expertise and interests. Interdisciplinary classes are highly encouraged. Classes can be multi-week or one-time workshops. If you are interested in teaching a specific class that is not listed below, please include a brief course description in your letter of interest.

The list below includes general and specific types of classes we are seeking to introduce into our program:

• Bird Watching
• Nature Exploration/Foraging
• Zoology/Wildlife
• Oceanic & Coral Reef
• Native Plant Identification

The hourly rate begins at $25+/hr, commensurate with experience. Instructors can also take one free class per term (up to $300).
