Zusammenfassung

The City of Mount Vernon seeks a proactive Recreation Coordinator to manage and enhance a wide range of community recreation programs. You will plan, budget, market, and supervise staff and volunteers while coordinating events and partnerships with schools and local organizations.

Essential duties include program development, staff training, vendor management, and compliance with safety and city regulations. A degree in recreation or related field with several years of experience is preferred.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Environmental Science, Sports Administration, Sports Management, or related field; five years in municipal/government recreation; at least two years supervisory experience.
• Experience hiring, training, and supervising staff and volunteers.
• Knowledge of risk management, budgeting, contract management, and community partnerships.

• Coordinate recreation programs, activities, camps, classes, and partnerships; secure locations and instructors; evaluate programs.
• Coordinate citywide special events, vendors, contracts, and staff scheduling.
• Lead youth/adult sports, environmental/nature programs, and community outreach with schools and organizations.
• Market and promote programs via flyers, social media, and digital ads; support annual guide development.
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate part-time staff, interns, and volunteers; manage front desk support.
• Oversee department administrative functions, budgeting, reporting, and registration systems; maintain records.
