Job summary

AmeriCorps State / National program is seeking a Natural Resources Technician to join FCNRCD/VHCB efforts in Vermont. This full-time service role supports tree plantings, soil sampling, restoration site maintenance, and outreach activities during a 1720-hour, 47-week term.

You will develop program tracking systems, assist with public education events, and engage landowners and communities to protect water quality and natural resources.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong communication and community outreach skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and be flexible.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the annual tree and trout sale during ordering, inventory, and pick-up periods.
  • Participate in ecosystem restoration field tasks, including tree plantings, restoration site maintenance, and willow stake harvesting.
  • Assist in fall soil sampling at Franklin County farms.
  • Create and update program tracking systems including: volunteers, event/outreach, natural resources and water quality projects, blog planning, and ArcGIS Online mapping of clean water projects.
  • Implement outreach, site visits, and clean water projects
  • Plan, organize, and host public education events
  • Assist with Watershed Science 101 program in Franklin County schools and other education opportunities for youth -Participate in all VHCB AmeriCorps Trainings, Service Days, Events, and Program Initiatives.
