Job summary

A local conservation organization seeks AmeriCorps Natural Resources Crew Members to manage natural ecosystems in Iowa. This role involves working under experienced leaders in various resource projects to enhance ecological health. Candidates should have an interest in environmental science and the ability to work outdoors. Successful applicants will earn a living stipend and a Segal Education Award after completing their service. This is a half-time position serving a minimum of 900 hours over 26 weeks.

Qualifications

• Ability to walk a minimum of five miles per service day.
• Ability to carry 45 pounds on your back for invasive species management.
• Comfortable with driving in various environmental conditions.

Responsibilities

• Participate in natural resource projects within Polk County parks.
• Manage and steward natural resources.
• Collaborate with Environmental Steward Crew Leaders.

Skills

Interest in environmental science

Ability to work outdoors in various conditions

Strong communication skills

Comfortable with hand tools and equipment

Education

Degree in environmental science or related field
