Job summary

Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking a Natural Resource Program Coordinator - Habitat & Migration to lead habitat and migration initiatives across regional offices in Idaho. The role centers on coordinating the Mule Deer Initiative, big game movement, and watershed programs while supporting cooperative habitat projects with public and private lands.

The successful candidate will supervise staff, manage statewide budgets, and help develop department policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications require wildlife management expertise with 9+ years, OR a bachelor’s with 5 years, OR a master’s with 3 years.
• Experience supervising others and leading staff.
• Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating statewide management programs.
• Experience working with diverse stakeholders to meet program objectives.
• Experience preparing and monitoring a budget.

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) is seeking to fill a current opening for Natural Resource Program Coordinator - Habitat & Migration within the Wildlife Bureau's Habitat Program.

The duty station for this position will be located at one of the department’s regional offices in Jerome, Pocatello, Idaho Falls, or at the Headquarters office in Boise. The final duty station will be determined once the successful candidate has been selected.

• Habitat & Migration Program Coordinator Responsibilities:
  oCoordinatesthe department's Mule Deer Initiative.
  o Coordinates the department's big game migration and movement efforts.
  o Coordinates the department’s Watershed Initiative program.
  o Facilitate implementation of cooperative habitat projects on federal, state, and private land.
  o Represents the department on multi-agency committees and at various meetings with federal agencies, special interest groups, community and other state organizations, Native American tribes, and other governmental entities.
  o Represents the department at meetings that affect fish and wildlife resources.
  o Provides technical assistance to department management and regional staff on resource management programs and policies.
  o Hires, trains, and supervises staff.
  o Manages multiple statewide budgets and grants.
  o Develops and recommends department policy and rules.
  o Testifies at hearings and participates in media interviews.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Considerable knowledge of wildlife management. (Typically gained by at least nine years of professional work experience in wildlife management or a closely related field OR has successfully completed a bachelor's degree in wildlife management or a closely related field from an accredited college or universityand has at least five years of professional work experience in wildlife management or a closely related field OR has successfully completed a master's degree in wildlife management or a closely related field from an accredited college or universityand has at least three years of professional work experience in wildlife management or a closely related field.)

Minimum Qualification Specialty Areas:
(These qualifications listed below are required for the current opening at Idaho Department of Fish and Game).

• Experience supervising others. (Typically gained by lead work experience that involved work assignment, direction, and monitoring of staff (such experience on a fill-in basis is non-qualifying unless for a minimum of three months.)
• Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating statewide management programs. (Typically gained by at least three years of professional experience leading regional or statewide programs including wildlife population assessment, resource use, and policy development.)
• Experience with collaborative working relationships involving diverse stakeholders. (Typically gained by at least three years of professional experience working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement program objectives. Please describe any teams you worked with and your relative role within the team(s)).
• Experience preparing and monitoring a budget.(Typically gained by at least three years of experience developing, implementing, monitoring, and managing regional or statewide budgets.
