Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Downtown Chicago office is seeking a Natural Gas Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join the team. This role emphasizes leading pipeline and facility design across multiple disciplines and coordinating with clients.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering design efforts with Civil/Structural, Electrical, I&C disciplines.
• Provide technical leadership for natural gas pipeline and facility engineering.
• Design pipeline facilities such as metering/regulating and compressor stations.
• Develop PFDs, P&IDs, plans, sections, details, and BOMs.
• Perform engineering calculations for studies, reports, and design decisions.
• Coordinate surveying, geotechnical investigations, permitting, and land acquisition.
• Prepare material/equipment specifications for procurement and FAT.
• Lead proposal development, scope definition, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Experience in design of electric transmission lines and/or distribution systems.

Overview

Kimley-Horn's Downtown Chicago, Illinois (IL) office is seeking a Natural Gas Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering design efforts, working closely with Civil/Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation & Control, and other disciplines.
• Provide technical leadership for Natural Gas pipeline and facility engineering
• Design of pipeline facilities such as metering/regulating stations and compressor station.
• Development of PFDs, P&IDs, plans, sections, details, and associated bills of materials
• Perform engineering calculations to support technical studies, reports, and design decisions.
• Coordinate supporting activities including surveying, geotechnical investigations, permitting, and land acquisition.
• Prepare material and equipment specifications to support procurement and factory acceptance testing.
• Lead proposal development and scope definition, including conceptual designs, execution plans, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Experience in the design of electric transmission lines and/or distribution systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant engineering design experience
• Bachelors or Masters from an ABET accredited university in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field
• Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months) Preferred
• Proficiency with 49 CFR Part 192 and ASME B31.8
• Experience with task management, concept design, and assisting project management tasks
• Familiar with coordinating with clients, attending client meetings, and overseeing quality standards
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D - CADWorx Preferred

Salary Range: $95,000 - $110,000
