Job summary

Mercor is seeking a meticulous Japanese annotation specialist to work on training data for diverse Japanese documents. You will identify and bound every meaningful region, assign types and reading order, and ensure faithful transcription of kanji, kana, furigana and handwritten text.

Your work will be reviewed by a second Japanese expert to ensure accuracy and consistency across hundreds of pages. This role emphasizes exactness over speed and requires careful attention to layout and content.

Qualifications

• Must be a native Japanese speaker with full command of kanji, hiragana and katakana, including furigana and variant character forms.

Responsibilities

• Open and check a task: pages are provided and uploaded for annotation.
• Annotate structure by bounding each meaningful region and assigning type and reading order.
• Record relationships between regions and their parent figures or tables.
• Transcribe faithfully with character-level accuracy, including all scripts and handwritten content.
• Capture page metadata and participate in peer review to ensure quality.
