Job summary

Weekday 1 seeks a native Japanese speaker for meticulous document annotation and transcription tasks. You will identify and bound every meaningful region on PDFs, ensure correct reading order, and provide faithful character-level transcriptions in Japanese, including kanji, kana, and furigana. Collaboration and quality reviews are essential.

The role requires experience in text-heavy work and an exacting eye for detail to support AI training data for diverse Japanese documents.

Qualifications

• Native Japanese speaker with full command of kanji, hiragana and katakana, including furigana and variant character forms.
• Professional experience in interpretation, journalism, transcription, translation, editorial work, or comparable document-intensive work.
• Character-level accuracy matters; a single wrong character is a defect.

Responsibilities

• Open and check a task: PDFs are provided for you and you do not source documents.
• Annotate structure: bound every meaningful region and assign a component type and reading-order index.
• Record relationships: link regions to their parent figure or table by an identifier.
• Transcribe faithfully: reproduce all text exactly as it appears in Japanese, including handwritten content.
• Capture page metadata: language, document type, source, page dimensions, and flags for tables, formulas and handwriting.
• Review a colleague's work: second expert reviews are conducted end-to-end.
