Job summary

Fargo Public Schools is seeking a Native American Student Engagement Specialist to support students in grades 6-8 with mentoring and culturally grounded programming. The role emphasizes collaboration with families and school teams to promote academic achievement, attendance, and belonging.

Responsibilities include facilitating Warrior Circles, coordinating culturally responsive supports, and maintaining confidential records while working with Native communities and regional partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, human services, Native American or Indigenous studies, youth development, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Experience working with adolescents and engaging families in a school, community, or youth-serving setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Native American cultures and culturally responsive practices.
• Ability to build trusting relationships, facilitate student groups, collaborate with school and community partners, and maintain confidential records.

Responsibilities

• Participates in middle school MTSS-SEB and student-support teams to identify student needs, coordinate Tier 2 and 3 supports, monitor progress, and align services across systems.
• Develops trusting, positive relationships with students through mentoring, check-ins, and engagement activities.
• Collaborates with students, families, school staff, and community partners to identify barriers and connect students with resources.
• Encourages student self-advocacy, leadership, goal setting, and a sense of cultural identity and belonging.
