National Vice President Sales - Diabetes
The National Vice President Sales - Diabetes (NVP) will architect and execute a dynamic sales strategy focused on acquiring new patients requiring diabetes supplies at home. The NVP will provide visionary leadership to the sales organization, inspiring and directing a high-performing team to achieve ambitious patient acquisition targets and expand the company's market presence within the diabetes sector. This role requires a strong understanding of the diabetes patient journey, proven success in building and leading effective sales teams, and the ability to forge strategic partnerships with healthcare providers, manufacturers, and referral networks. Success will be measured by the ability to win and retain referral sources, deliver patient growth, and improve mix and profitability within regions. In-depth knowledge of the market, products, services, and the competitive landscape is essential.
This is a remote position, working from your home office, with a requirement of 50% travel. The role reports to the SVP/GM.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of approximately 90 employees, including Region Managers, Territory Business Managers, and Business/Channel Development.
- Analyze market opportunities and develop/implement plans to maximize market penetration. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide high-level service, value, and solutions to customers.
- Build and maintain relationships with key regional customers, aligning products and services with their performance objectives. Represent the company at industry events and conferences to promote awareness.
- Provide vision, strategy, and motivation to the field team. Coach and develop sales leaders to achieve results. Drive accountability through clear communication. Responsible for hiring and performance management, inspiring and motivating teams.
- Collaborate with Strategic Accounts, Sales teams, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and other internal units on current and new business opportunities.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of Cardinal Health, distribution, and the diabetes industry, including key competitors, technology, trends, challenges, and customer requirements. Understand how Cardinal Health offerings impact customers.
- Create a high-performance culture through performance management and talent development. Promote teamwork, accountability, and innovation.
- Understand customer successes, challenges, and strategic objectives; use financial acumen to identify opportunities and risks.
- Navigate complex payer and reimbursement dynamics to improve provider and patient awareness of policies and coverage.
- Foster strategic partnerships within client organizations and internally, addressing concerns swiftly and decisively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
- 10+ years healthcare sales experience, preferably in distribution and calling on referral sources.
- Strong knowledge of the diabetes market preferred.
- Understanding of healthcare provider decision-making processes.
- Ability to provide specific examples of success strategies and resource leverage.
- Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and growing market share.
- Leadership skills to manage diverse teams in a changing environment.
- Excellent planning, forecasting, financial, and negotiation skills.
- Matrix management experience and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Strong presentation and communication skills with executive presence.
- Willingness to travel 50% domestically, with arrangements compliant with company policies.
- Ability to work remotely in a dedicated, distraction-free environment with high-speed internet. Company-provided equipment will be supplied.
Anticipated salary range: $163,000 - $263,235. Bonus eligibility and comprehensive benefits are included.
