Job summary

Food & Water Watch is seeking a National Senior Organizer to develop volunteer leaders and manage the Food & Water Volunteer Network for national, state, and local campaigns. The role emphasizes recruiting, onboarding, trainings, and coordination with staff across communications and policy.

The position is remote with occasional office reporting, full-time, and reports to the Volunteer Network Director. Compensation reflects experience, with extensive benefits and union context.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of full-time organizing experience, or an equivalent combination of full-time and volunteer experience.
• Demonstrated ability to develop effective organizing strategies.
• Understanding of Food & Water Watch's Strategic Organizing model
• Ability to balance multiple strategic campaigns and targets simultaneously.
• Commitment to Food & Water Watch's core values of justice, human dignity, fair treatment, and equity.

Responsibilities

• Build the Food & Water Volunteer Network, including planning and executing public events to educate and engage volunteers on campaigns.
• Train and support volunteers to take action to hold decision makers accountable on critical issues.
• Develop trainings for volunteers and staff focused on building the base and growing the network; conduct tactical trainings as part of the program.
• Coordinate with Communications to draft content to engage supporters and recruit volunteers.
• Coordinate with Policy staff on volunteer engagement on national priority campaigns.
• May speak at events and forums, and serve as a representative to the public and media.
• Maintain familiarity with issues and respond to requests from activists, coalition members, and media.
• Regularly report on work to supervisors and donors.
• May supervise part-time staff; participate in non-partisan electoral strategies and fundraising.
