Job Summary

Responsible for developing and executing national strategies for assigned categories. Oversee supply chain solutions and purchasing programs to ensure adherence to approved quality and delivery standards.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities And Key Accountabilities
  • Manage a team of Category Purchasing Managers, Senior Buyers, or Expeditors to execute procurement for assigned categories.
  • Develop strategies in assigned categories to ensure alignment between the national category management strategy and supporting the district/region business needs.
  • Oversee collaboration within the Purchasing department, districts/regions, and ensure alignment with the company assortment strategy.
  • Collaborate with field purchasing, purchasing operations, and category management to drive execution at the field level.
  • Communicate national direction and strategy to field, pricing, category management, and external suppliers to ensure alignment.
  • Ensure effective product performance within assigned categories to achieve profitability, product penetration, product mix, and inventory turns.
  • Create supply chain solutions to enhance purchasing efficiency, profitability, and inventory availability.
  • Partner with category management to build stronger relationships with preferred suppliers to support growth within the assigned category.
Nature and Scope
  • Require analysis and investigation for solutions.
  • Achieve results through decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.
  • Manage a team of professional contributors and support staff.
Work Environment
  • Located in a comfortable indoor environment with infrequent unpleasant conditions.
  • Mostly sitting with opportunities to move; occasional lifting of light articles.
  • Overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education And Experience
  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline, with 7+ years of experience. Certification may be required. An advanced degree may offset less experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Deep understanding of industry trends, market dynamics, and sourcing strategies.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to lead initiatives and manage change effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for presentations and negotiations.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with purchasing, finance, operations, logistics, IT, etc.
  • Salary range: $120,600 - $193,000 USD annually, DOE.
