Job summary

DC Army National Guard seeks a Food Service Specialist to provide sustenance for Soldiers in garrison or in the field. You will plan and prep menus, prepare and serve meals, and ensure food safety and sanitation, from small kitchens to large facilities.

You will learn to manage menus, food and supply ordering, and storage of perishable items while earning a regular paycheck and benefits through the National Guard. Training includes Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training.

Qualifications

• Must enlist in the Army National Guard.
• Age between 17 and 35.
• Must pass a physical exam.
• Citizenship requirements for National Guard.

Responsibilities

• Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and sauté as prescribed by Army recipes.
• Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment.
