Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) seeks a Principal/Associate Principal to lead fire engineering and drive business growth from the Washington DC office, combining technical leadership with strategic client growth on national projects.

You will mentor staff, advance cutting-edge fire protection work, contribute to journals and committees, and collaborate across SGH practice areas to deliver high-quality solutions for complex buildings.

Qualifications

Master's, Master of Engineering, or Doctorate in Fire Protection Engineering or related field required.
15+ years of professional experience in fire protection engineering or related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
Experience leading-edge work and leading projects requiring creativity in solutions.
Excellent track record of technical excellence and market leadership.
Demonstrated ability to develop strong client relationships and revenue base.
Strong leadership and mentoring skills with a commitment to developing high-level talent.
Participation in professional society activities and publishing papers.
Experience as an accomplished public speaker.
High standards of ethics and honesty as core to the role.

Responsibilities

Develop business and deliver projects through client relationships, marketing, project management, and technical expertise.
Market, organize, coordinate, and execute project assignments across SGH personnel.
Lead, mentor, and train staff within a team environment that promotes achievement and collaboration.
