Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) seeks a Principal-level Fire Engineering leader to grow the Washington DC practice. You will apply fire dynamics, structural fire engineering, CFD, and materials science to complex buildings while developing client relationships and new business nationally.

You will mentor staff, coordinate cross-disciplinary projects, and contribute to journals and conferences. The role is based in DC with national scope and a strong total compensation package.

Qualifications

• Master, MS, ME, or PhD in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• 15+ years of professional experience in fire protection engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Strong track record in leadership, client relationships, and revenue growth.
• Public speaking and scholarly publishing experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop business and deliver projects through client relationships, marketing, project management, and technical expertise.
• Lead, mentor, and train staff; collaborate across SGH practice areas.
• Market, organize, and execute project assignments leveraging SGH resources.
