Job summary

Chugach Government Solutions is seeking a Carpenter to support facility maintenance, repair, renovation, and construction activities for NASA operations. The role involves skilled carpentry across wooden structures, walls, doors, windows, flooring, and cabinetry, with emphasis on reading blueprints and following detailed instructions.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, plus 2+ years of carpentry experience or 5 years substituted for education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Successful completion of a related vocational program and at least two (2) years of related carpentry experience; five (5) years of directly related experience may be substituted for the vocational education requirement.
• Experience using carpentry hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to read and follow blueprints, sketches, work orders, and verbal instructions.
• Strong organizational, planning, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to take direction and follow detailed instructions.
• Ability to work independently and effectively with employees, customers, and personnel at various organizational levels.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required NASA site access and credentials.

Responsibilities

• Perform general carpentry work using hand and power tools.
• Erect wooden structures and construct building frames.
• Install exterior and interior walls, trim, doors, windows, floor tile, and ceiling tile.
• Build concrete forms and scaffolding.
• Perform maintenance and repair work on buildings and facilities.
• Build and install cabinets, interior fixtures, and related components.
• Prepare layouts, select materials, and complete work in accordance with blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions.
• Coordinate multiple assignments and projects simultaneously.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
