Job summary

ASRC Federal Facilities Logistics seeks a Carpenter to support the NASA Wallops Flight Facility at Wallops Island, VA, as part of our NASA prime program. You will interpret blueprints, select materials, and perform framing, drywall, doors, windows, moldings, and related installations, using hand and power woodworking tools.

A recognized carpentry apprenticeship or technical schooling, or five years as a journeyman, is required; willingness to overtime on weekends/holidays is expected; strict

Qualifications

• Must meet all Core Job Specifications.
• Must have completed a recognized carpentry apprentice program or technical school or have five years of experience as a journeyman.
• Must be skilled in the operation of hand and power woodworking tools and be cognizant of necessary safety precautions to protect personnel, materials, and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Interprets blueprints, rough sketches, and selects proper material, tools, and equipment.
• Uses power tools such as circular and band saws, planers, sanders, chisels to cut, shape, assemble and install doors, windows, moldings, and related hardware.
• Installs ceiling materials, floor coverings, drywall, and pre-finished wall coverings.
• Performs framing with wood and metal components and ensures sound framing techniques.
• Participates in safety meetings and adheres to safety procedures and environmental responsibilities.
• Willing to perform emergency overtime services on weekends and holidays as required.
