The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia seeks a Director of Operations for the NanoSTAR Institute in Charlottesville. The role oversees administrative, financial, and HR functions to support translational research and educational initiatives.

As a member of the institute's leadership, you will manage budgeting, reporting, and staffing, collaborate with university partners, ensure compliance with policies, and mentor staff to advance nanomedicine programs at UVA.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• 3+ years of relevant operations/administrative experience.

Responsabilidades

• Develops and implements short- and long-term strategic goals aligned with institute goals in partnership with NanoSTAR director and Manning Institute leadership.
• Serves on the institute senior leadership team and oversees business operations with direction from this group.
• Assists with development and operation of NanoSTAR educational initiatives, including undergraduate summer and international exchange programs.
• Collaborates with university partners including HR, finance, IT, and facilities management.
• Formulates and improves center procedures in accordance with School of Medicine and university policies and regulations.
• Acts as senior fiscal officer for the center, ensuring financial reports and internal controls compliance.
• Develops annual budgets in alignment with the center's strategic plan and manages expenditures.
• Mentors and manages NanoSTAR Institute staff and staffing plans.
• Ensures completion of workflows such as staff merit increases, hiring, onboarding, and evaluations.
• Maintains safety and cleanliness of center and laboratory space and stays current on emergency preparedness.
